Save the Galaxy, one planet at a time

Ok, so maybe this isn't a complete buried treasure like what I was going to post today (it involves an academic method to turn your computer into Samuel L Jackson, but that'll be Monday), but it is definitely cool, and not getting a lot of attention.
Yahoo! does a lot of special events where we bring together a lot of information on one page, and Earth Day is no different. The nice thing is that even if your not some sort of tree-hugging, granola crunching, hippy the stuff suggested there can actually save you a few bucks and bug you less. Personally, I've pledged to finally do something about the junk snail mail I get and buy more locally produced stuff. Yeah, ok, so that last one is easy because I live in California and there's a rather large growing area just west of here, but hey, it's a lot cheaper than buying the stuff from Chile. That and the flourescent bulbs I already use, (which really dropped my power bill, by the way) and yeah, maybe there's something to this whole Earth Day thing.
Granted, there's no way I'm turning off my computer when I'm away, but I do power down the LCD, run the "Blank Screen" screensaver and, stop the disks after 15 minutes. No "instant on" beats that.
So g'won, check out something cool and do something good.
