Need a Free MP3 Player?
| Thursday, August 3rd, 2006 | --jr |
I got an interesting note in the mail today while wondering what to post here.
Someone had an MP3 file they wanted to put on a web page and wanted to know if anyone had a free, easy MP3 player. I pointed out that del.icio.us has had one for quite some time called PlayTagger. (I first discovered it whilst perusing Jonathan Coulton's song archive.) It uses a bit of javascript and flash to control playing the MP3.

See? Pretty easy.
It's quite clever, pretty darn small, and free to use.
UPDATE:
Whoops, there is a bit of flash involved. About 800 bytes of it to actually play the MP3. Modified the article to correct that.

Excellent!!! Thanks so much for posting that!!! Now I can create a music section :) There was this Flahs webbased IPod player but it was a real pain to set it up and tweak the XML file each time…

[...] Yahoo! 360°, our rockin’ blog service, has a particular feature called a Blast, which basically lets you throw up a short message and link to something interesting at the top of your blog page. It’s basically a place to highlight any sort of, “hey, this is kinda neat,” moment that you come across in your everyday life, ideally associated with some URL that describes whatever was neat in greater detail. An interesting article, a funny picture, or maybe some awesome MP3 that you want to Blast to your friends. Hey, hold on, don’t we have some sort of inline MP3 player? [...]
