Second Place, First Loser

Statistically, you probably don't play Fantasy Auto Racing---comparing the number of users to, say, the population of the planet, for instance. But it's a fun game, probably the best one ever invented; I work on it, so I should know. One perk that comes along with that is that I actually get to play in the same group as all of the Auto Racing experts that Yahoo! has hired to write articles and...generally be expert at stuff. We're talking about the best of the best here, people who follow the sport and know things.

I'm in first place by several hundred points, and man, it feels good.

One of my coworkers had the brilliant idea, why not try to share this feeling with our users? Give them a chance to prove themselves in head-to-head competition with the people who do this for a living. Thus were born...THE Y! SPORTS BLOG FANTASY LEAGUES!

Hm. This font doesn't have enough reverb, but it's a pretty cool idea regardless: regular users get the chance to match up against the developers and expert writers behind the game, showing their stuff and earning bragging rights at the same time as they participate in an open forum about making the game more awesome with the people who can actually make those awesome changes. And for us, we have a chance to get to know the guys using our product and hopefully get a better idea of what we're doing right and wrong. It's a win-win situation!

For the person in first place, at least. :D
