Have you talked to your kids about printing?

Maybe the topic of this post is common knowledge and I'm just way behind the times, but to repurpose NBC's rather optimistic slogan about reruns: "If I Haven't Seen It, It's Cool To You!"™
I was heading to a birthday party in San Francisco on Friday night, so I Yahoo! Maps'd up some directions from my house to the appropriate bar. Upon clicking the "Printable Version" button at the top of the map, I noticed that the image of the map was extremely zoomed out, showing the entire 34.4 mile route. Sure would be neat if I could focus on a particular part of the route from within the application and print out that view instead, I thought.
So, I gave it the ol' college try, and, yep, you can do that. Whatever part of the map that you have framed from the main maps window is what will show up on the printable version. In fact, as you move around the view in the main window---keeping the printable version open---the printable version will actually update along with it! Discovering this cool feature turned out to be extremely handy as I proceeded to get lost in San Francisco after accidentally turning off of the 101 too early, but was able to reorient myself based on the zoomed-in street names I had printed out. Thanks, Yahoo! Maps!
