Anyone Smell Smoke?

One of the all-too-frequent complaints that I hear about any company Yahoo! buys is that "They don't do anything after they get bought." That's never true, but the problem is you don't see a lot of the stuff they are doing. The problem is going from a small service that may get a few hundred hits an day or an hour to one that gets a few thousand hits a second. It takes a bit of time to go from "Hey, we need another server. Someone head over to Fry's." to "OH DEAR GOD EVERY SINGLE BOX WE HAVE IS ON FIRE!" Scaling some of that stuff up to meet demand while not taking everything down for a month takes time.

Speaking of glowing properties that are not sitting still, the fine folks over at Jumpcut have released a bunch of new features. Which is nice.

Particularly since they haven't caught on fire yet.
