Burning Bridges

About a week ago, one of the major freeway connectors going into San Francisco kind of melted (luckily, no one was hurt too badly). This obviously would inconvenience a large number of commuters, many of whom are not equipped to travel over melted roadways. Within a day or two, though, the Yahoo! Maps team had rerouted everything around the collapsed bridges and whatnot, ensuring valid directions for all of those who were boldly forging ahead in their automobiles instead of opting for public transportation (though, you know, maybe it would have been more environmentally friendly if we hadn't). And now that several of the connectors have opened up again, directions are flowing through them again. Kudos to the Maps team for keeping on top of this unexpected and massively disruptive traffic incident.
