:ar!

I had planned to write a different post about Yahoo! Messenger, but I wasn't happy with where it was going and then I got sidetracked by pirates and killer bees! Which, as you can imagine, would be somewhat inconvenient if they weren't just two new additions to the Yahoo! emoticon family, available exclusively through Yahoo! Messenger for the Web. Type ":bz" and ":ar!" to discern what all th' buzz be about!
The source of this revelation was a really informative and detailed post about the current state and past history of Yahoo! emoticons, hosted on a site called WackyB.co.nz, which you can read more about here. I don't really know who they are (never mind, bee just introduced herself in the comments section. Hi!), but they keep linking to this blog as a newsfeed in a forum and they definitely seem to know their stuff about online messaging.

hey Sean :)
the new flash smileys in Yahoo! Messenger for the web are really awesome, we had a great time doing the article :) For the desktop version of Yahoo! Messenger, Chris Szeto let us borrow (and rework) his original Yahoo! Messenger Smiley game “Emotiblaster”
http://www.wackyb.co.nz/EmotiBlaster/
which is a great way to kill time and free the brain… least that’s what I use it for :)
just so you know a little about who we are… incase you think we stalk your blog by linking to it in our forum ;) there is a kind of impartial (as such) article written by Sarah Bacon over at the Yahoo! Messenger Blog “The Wacky(B) World of Yahoo! Messenger”
http://blog.messenger.yahoo.com/blog/2007/03/02/the-wackyb-world-of-yahoo-messenger/
which will give you a little bit of our history and why we tend to cover Yahoo! Messenger :)

:D Thanks for the follow-up, bee! You guys run a really cool site. And no worries about the stalking, we’re attention whores anyway.
