My alumni can beat up your alumni

To set the scene for this entry, Yahoo! Sports just launched their Beta site, the aptly addressed beta.sports.yahoo.com. It's a mirror of the standard Sports site, except the Sports guys can take all of their crazy ideas and put 'em up there, to solicit feedback from users and to figure out if "crazy" is a close enough synonym to "good" for it to go onto the real site. You'll be able to read more about Beta features at the Y! Sports Blog.

For now, consider this a sneak peek of the first Sports Beta feature to go up, the Alumni Tracker! If you've ever wondered whether USC or Notre Dame had more people in the NFL--and really, who hasn't?--we've got you covered. You'll know right away if your alumni are making headlines, thanks to the Alumni News, or just making new friends, thanks to the Alumni Photos. Head to the Teams page and see what your school's been up to!

For some schools, not very much.

My college’s Football team was disbanded a few years after I graduated and replaced with a Judo team. (no kidding.)
Granted, everyone used to go to the games to see how the cheerleaders were going to be arrested that week anyway, so it wasn’t a huge loss.

It did make Homecoming parades a bit odd, though.
