YHOO un-Reloaded
| Thursday, September 21st, 2006 | --Sean |
Managing stocks is hard. There's the inherent uncertainty within the market, the difficulty of selecting a robust portfolio, and all of those perplexing animal metaphors. But the worst part? Having to reload a page to get up-to-date stock information. Without a doubt.
But don't worry, you can put those troubles behind you – Yahoo! Finance has streaming quotes! Just about anywhere that you see quote data (such as on a quotes summary page or in your portfolios), it'll be updating in place and saving your refresh button a bit of work. In case you happen to like repetitive use injuries, you can turn the streaming quotes off using the provided menu; you can also change whether the quotes flash as they update. Keep in mind that these are just streaming quotes, not real-time streaming quotes, so they're still 15 minutes removed from the actual fluctuations of the stock market. But now you'll always have the most up-to-date information on 15 minutes ago instantly at your fingertips!

Heh, so if your investing goes anything like mine has, start watching your net worth plummet with greater ease than ever before.
Man, I've had this post around forever, but I think Finance had been bucket testing the streaming quotes for a while (so not everyone could see them). Glad I can finally dust this off and put it on the site!

FYI…MarketWatch.com had LiveQuotes for well over a year before Yahoo! ripped this off.
