Lending a Hand

I've been with Yahoo! for a while. I started with the company at the beginning of 1999 and have been lucky enough to stay ever since. In fact, I've got the t-shirts, hats, jackets and even a pair of socks to prove it. Since I tend to be lazy and enjoy walking around with some part of my attire bearing a Yahoo! logo, I'm often asked "What makes Yahoo! different?" and my answer has always been the same. "We're about people."

Sadly, a darn good example of what I mean by that usually comes after major disasters, be it the memorial tile service we offered after 9/11 or the efforts we did trying to get displaced families back in touch with each other after Katrina. We can't really sit still while there's a problem that effects people.

In fact, there's a group of talented Yahoo! folks we internally refer to as the "Scrum for Good". They're a team of artists, engineers and other people who donate time and effort into helping out various organizations. One recent example of what they can do is the one.org page, in an effort to support the effort to end world poverty.

I'm pretty sure there are a number of similar projects on their schedule, and it's refreshing that these are all being done fairly low-key.

Sorry if this isn't a hidden feature or trick, but there's no denying that this is cool.
