Worth the Wait

Two cool things today! In a sense, this is a make-up post to apologize for missing Monday, and it's also just on a topic that I can't bear to delay posting about.

In a comment posted earlier by Earnest, he asked, "Any word on an OSX update?"

The word is: Yup.

It's a US release for now and seems to be for OS X 10.3.9 and up, but it's a huge step in the right direction. Enjoy!

Dang it Sean! Now I'll have to change tomorrow's post! Geez, I try to be lazy and look what happens. ;)

Ok, here's the added info about the new Mac Messenger:

Needless to say, the Y!Messenger Mac team REALLY wants to hear feedback about this. You can get to it from the help menu.

From what I've heard, this rewrite features:

  1. A complete rewrite, from the ground up. (So THAT'S why it's been a while!)
  2. Entirely new UI written in Cocoa and designed for Mac OS X
  3. Avatar and display image support, custom stealth settings, webcam support
  4. Animated sign-in, sign-out and contact list
  5. support for Growl Notifications
  6. Alerts for Calendar, Mail and Personals (which one assumes will be using those nifty Growl Notifications

So, all you mac-types out there, have at! And now you'll be one step ahead of the folks using Windows stuff (Well, I mean, other than "again", but this time I mean just Y!IM) since you've got integration with MSN built in.

Oh, did I mention that we're rolling out support for MSN messenger soon?
